Samantha Hankerd, Chief Marketing OfficerFor many families, when the time arises that caring for an elderly loved at home becomes too great, they are often unprepared and in crisis mode as they search to place their fragile family member in the right senior living environment.
Magnolia Assisted Living and Memory Care proudly assists families who are navigating, what can be an overwhelming chapter of life, by offering exceptional care for individuals who need assistance in meeting their daily needs, along with addressing the unique challenges associated with their cognitive impairments.
Magnolia is comprised of primarily boutique care settings. Magnolia’s model focuses on providing the highest levels of care to meet its residents’ daily needs. Magnolia maintains a high care staff-to-resident ratio to enable personalized assistance to its residents with distinctive and often complex care needs like catheters, colostomies, ostomies, or who need full assistance with activities of daily living.
The safety and security of their residents is paramount. Hi-tech alarm systems detect fire and smoke, while magnetic locking systems aid care staff in preventing resident elopements.
“We are one of a few properties that is still willing to take more complex care individuals, and we pride ourselves on that,” says Edward Sedacca, founder, and CEO of Magnolia.
Magnolia’s highly trained team provides round-the-clock assistance with activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, feeding, toileting, and medication management, ensuring residents’ needs are met with knowledge and compassion.
Magnolia collaborates with clinical partners like Home Health and Hospice to support residents in their journey, easing challenges and enhancing their quality of life.

“We are the quarterbacks helping to coordinate and oversee all of our residents’ daily and medical needs,” says Samantha Hankerd, CMO at Magnolia. At Magnolia, Activity Directors curate a variety of indoor and outdoor activities, such as physical fitness, painting, Bible study, and musical entertainment, fostering a fulfilling lifestyle for its residents.
Magnolia promotes resident engagement and purposeful living through daily scheduled activities and by involving residents in the development and execution of programs, e.g., making floral arrangements. Magnolia believes in encouraging residents to create and personalize their living space, based on the concept that it brings joy and a sense of ownership to seniors who have lost aspects of their identity.
A recent case in point was when a female resident and former educator, was enlisted to model for Magnolia’s routine exercise programming. She acted out the exercise program and posed for a picture to explain each movement. These images, along with the customized morning fitness curriculum were shared across Magnolias various properties, placing a familiar face to the activity. As a result, this has motivated her and other residents to regularly participate in the morning workouts.
As a family-owned and operated business, Magnolia values the personal touch aspect of its business. Leadership members at Magnolia maintain direct communication with residents and their families. The Executive team shares their personal phone numbers and email addresses for 24/7 accessibility, differentiating itself from today’s corporate senior living landscape.
Magnolia’s mission is to provide residents with quality care, the comforts of home and a sense of companionship. This commitment to care and reliability is evident in Magnolia’s consistently high occupancy rate across its communities.
