Doug Sproul, President and CEO“This is my family.” These words from a new resident encapsulate the warmth and genuine affection that defines every senior’s move-in day at Mosaic Management’s close-knit, senior living communities.
Grand red-carpet welcomes are a recurring scene at Mosaic, with an average of 70 to 80 move-ins every month. Its core staff, nurses and residents attending the ceremony help new residents transition to the next stage of their lives, where a world of warm hospitality awaits them. At Mosaic, the emphasis on care transcends medical attention; it is a commitment to elevating every resident’s quality of life and giving them the best care possible, whether they are in independent living, assisted living or memory care.

Employing a comprehensive, holistic strategy, it presents an engaging environment that encourages seniors to lead their lives and savor their golden years with a sense of normalcy. This reality is made possible through the support of its seasoned staff, who work tirelessly to uphold its mission.
“Ultimately, everybody on our team is in this to take care of people in their final season of life and celebrate that milestone with them,” says Doug Sproul, president and CEO of Mosaic Management.
Championing a Wholesome Care Model
Just as it takes a village to raise a child, Mosaic believes it takes a community to care for seniors. This philosophy is a living reality in the heart of its facilities, spearheaded by Sproul’s deep-rooted passion for elder care. He challenges the conventional notion of senior care, moving beyond the basics of sustenance, hygiene and medical attention to therapeutic and community support to give them an active and engaging life.
In a landscape where customer care is often just a buzzword, Mosaic translates its pledge of delivering superior senior care into meaningful action. Whether site selection, building and development or ongoing operations, the overarching mission remains clear—the resident is ultimately a customer, and their experience takes precedence. Even during expansion operations, it constantly balances growth and its resident-centric focus.
A culture of caring has earned it an impressive track record, with nearly half of its buildings at full occupancy. The teamwork and drive of its highly trained staff is indispensable in maintaining this momentum.
As Mosaic grew from a small operation to one spread across six states, Sproul’s priority was to build a team that truly believed in serving its residents. The team’s dedication toward this mission is not a journey motivated by profit but from personal conviction. Many members of the Mosaic team, including Sproul, have housed their family members at the senior community facilities.
“When we look at one of our buildings, we ask ourselves if we would place a loved one there. If the answer is no, we focus our resources on fixing that gap,” says Sproul.
Staff members intermingle their decades of senior care industry experience to spearhead a collective approach that keeps Mosaic’s mission a priority. Bringing over two decades of industry expertise to the role of VP of operations, Missy McAllister has collaborated with Sproul for about eight years. Mallory DaCosta, also a VP of operations, dedicated 12 years at a different senior care facility. Jason Tanner, who runs the IT department, Matt Dunham, who heads up HR, and Larry Wright, who plays a pivotal role in its sales division, hold extensive professional histories, with Wright’s experience spanning 30 years in senior living. During Sproul’s tenure at a different company, he crossed paths with Jeremy Schoenfelder, who later joined the Mosaic team as the director of development. Their collective experience weaves a tapestry of skills and dedication, enriching the fabric of Mosaic’s operational leadership.

Enriching the Golden Years with Intention
Mosaic harnesses the latest technological advancements to enhance its approach to care provision. In spaces where residents require closer monitoring, it seamlessly integrates robust technology to improve their safety and well-being.
Communities are equipped with access-control technologies to safeguard the integrity of medication access and prevent residents from wandering. Surveillance cameras allow staff to be constantly assured of a resident’s whereabouts and ensure their safety around the clock.
It also recognizes the power of data in elevating the way it delivers care, especially in an industry that lags in tech adoption. Encouraging effective processes hinges on robust assessment to acquire reliable data. Mosaic recently expanded its team with IT experts to reinforce its existing digital infrastructure. With better insights into its operations, it can allocate resources more effectively, streamline processes, and understand the key elements to success. These measures also allow it to responsibly scale its services and ensure consistent care across communities.
Within Muse, cognitive disabilities like dementia and Alzheimer’s aren’t viewed as diseases. The focus is on encouraging active engagement over passive entertainment and recreation. Individuals can take control of and shape their daily routines with the support of technology. The program is being tested on a group of residents who display a significant improvement in their skills and overall quality of life. Over time, they are encouraged to become active contributors to their communities in personally meaningful ways.
Paving the Way for Elevated Industry Standards
In its relentless pursuit of evolution and improvement, Mosaic aims to set an industry benchmark that compels competitors to elevate their services. This commitment ensures that seniors everywhere receive the necessary support and resources for a life of comfort and dignity.
On this note, it is embarking on a journey of expansion, bringing its distinct brand of senior living to new corners of the country. Eager to take on new challenges, it typically overturns distressed buildings with a history of challenges, investing in essential improvements and orchestrating a significant turnaround within a year. Once-ailing structures are reborn as vibrant and improved senior living communities.
As expansion tends to bring about rising costs, Mosaic has taken a proactive stance to ensure residents can enjoy its facilities without financial strain. It has founded a dedicated development and construction company to facilitate cost-effective community and amenity creation without compromising service quality.
Mosaic Management’s story is one of creating vibrant communities where residents feel more than just welcomed— they feel truly at home.
